3 for 6 Euro. Delicious. Fresh. Lovely setting but always crowded. Wait in line. Eat.

Last day in Riga was soft and sunny but a quiet cold. We visited beautiful Majori in Jurmala at the coast only 30 minutes by taxi (16 Lats = 20 Euros), walked around looking at the impressive wooden villas laced with decorative details and beautiful windows. The cold Östersjön fog came in when we rested in the fine white sand on the famous 30 km beach. On the way back to the train (only cost 2 Lats! Majori – Riga) we passed the restaurant Uzbekistan, on the main shopping street, said to be good. Next time, we thought. Back in central Riga we were hungry. Headed to Ribs&Rocks for the special ribs marinated in Rigas traditional spirit Balzam black and served with toasted black garlic ray bread and sallad, sweet! After some rock classics from the best female cover singer I have heared, we walked back to our hotel Raddison Blu Dauguva while the sun set over capitalist exclamationmark number one, the Swedbank tower.

Today my boyfriend bought me a first class ticket home. He had to work. I thought it was sad to leave so early but now I am enjoying myself with big seats and free newspapers and magazines and coffee, water, chocolat and fruit. The best: The ticket cost less than economy class! And here comes a little gossip too: One of Sweden’s most famous “dansband”‘s singers, Olle Jönsson in Lasse Stefanz, talk very load in his cellphone two seats away!

…the new cabin bag that fit in (almost) everything. I am amazed how this little small thing could swallow all the stuff I had put on the bed except some things to have in my hand luggage and clothes to put on. This little wonder only cost me 299 SEK (30 euro).

Restaurant Pontus! is two restaurants in one, the seafood bar and the dinner room with a menu offering something for both meat lovers and fish friends. The seafood is beautiful displayed with a japanees touch and has a fresh taste. I would have liked a more complex set for my salmon sallad on sticks (above) but my friends that love crab, oysters and sushi easily found some treats on the menu. The service was not as good as one would think at an establishment like this and the coffee menu was cut back to only one choice and then the refill was forgotten. Best with this hot spot: Half price on food (not drinks) between 5 pm and 7.15 pm. Nice to meet friends for an early dinner instead of starting a wet after work. Next time I want to try the burger with truffle!

Miss T recommends…

…to get in touch with your inner Annie Lennox fan again. This fantastic artist, gorgeouse woman and hearty unaids and anti gender activist is in focus on Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh later this spring. The exhibition is on 23th March until 1 June 2013. Experience the fab photos of a stylish diva and the voice of an angle famous to the world as singer in Eurytmics (my favorite group ever!) and seller of over 80 million records. Don’t miss the chance to visit when broadcaster and author Muriel Gray doing a live interview on stage with Annie Lennox on the 25 of match.
